Seller Onboarding

Complete guide to become an OrignaGTA seller and start selling products.

Requirements

Before you start, ensure you have:

  • Valid email address
  • Bank account (for payout via Stripe Connect)
  • Government-issued ID for verification
  • Business license (if applicable)
  • Product inventory ready to list

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Visit https://dev.orignagta.ca (opens in a new tab)
  2. Click Sign UpI'm a Seller
  3. Enter email and password
  4. Click the verification link in your email

Step 2: Complete Your Seller Profile

Navigate to SettingsSeller Profile and fill in:

  • Business Name — Your shop name
  • Business Description — What you sell
  • Phone Number — For customer inquiries (optional)
  • Address — Warehouse/fulfillment address
  • Return Policy — Link to your return policy

Step 3: Connect Stripe Account

To receive payments:

  1. Go to SettingsPayments
  2. Click Connect Stripe Account
  3. You'll be redirected to Stripe OAuth
  4. Authorize the connection
  5. Return to OrignaGTA — your account is now live

How payouts work:

  • Buyer purchases your product
  • You ship the item
  • Order marked as delivered → payout scheduled
  • Stripe transfers funds to your bank account (typically 2–5 business days)

Step 4: Create Your First Product

  1. Click Add Product (or + button)
  2. Fill in product details:
    • Title — Product name (required)
    • Description — Full details (required)
    • Price — In CAD dollars
    • Stock Quantity — How many available
    • Category — Choose from dropdown
    • Images — Upload up to 5 photos
  3. Click Save as Draft to review later, or Publish to list immediately

Product Tips

  • Be descriptive: Include dimensions, materials, condition
  • High-quality photos: Show product from multiple angles
  • Competitive pricing: Check similar listings
  • Accurate stock: Update as items sell
  • Fast shipping: Set realistic delivery dates (impacts buyer ratings)

Step 5: Manage Orders

Once orders arrive:

  1. Go to OrdersIncoming
  2. Confirm receipt of order (marks as "confirmed")
  3. Prepare and ship item
  4. Enter tracking number
  5. Mark as Shipped
  6. Buyer receives and confirms delivery
  7. Funds arrive in your bank account

Handling Returns

If a buyer requests a return:

  1. Check return request in OrdersReturns
  2. Review reason and condition
  3. Approve to accept return and issue refund
  4. Reject if outside return window or damaged by buyer
  5. Buyer ships item back (provide return label)
  6. Once received, confirm in system
  7. Refund processed automatically

Platform Fees

OrignaGTA charges a small percentage of each sale:

Sale Price (before tax)        $100.00 CAD
Platform Fee (%)               $  8.00 CAD (8%)
Seller Receives               $  92.00 CAD

Additional:

  • Stripe processing fee: ~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction (deducted by Stripe, not OrignaGTA)
  • Shipping: You set the shipping cost

Best Practices

  1. Respond to messages quickly — Buyers appreciate fast communication
  2. Ship promptly — Update order status within 24 hours of purchase
  3. High-quality photos — Products with 4+ photos sell better
  4. Clear descriptions — Avoid returns from customer confusion
  5. Accurate pricing — Include shipping in your price calculation
  6. Monitor inventory — Out-of-stock items hurt your rating
